The next step in pursuing the development of the NIG is to conduct a study
that encompasses:
-
The legal reforms needed to enable the NIG’s implementation and future
regulatory and monitoring functions of the government pertaining to the
NIG and the (emerging) information services industry in Malaysia.
-
Detailed business feasibility study and implementation schedule.
-
Resource integration in terms of financial, technology, corporate partners
and human resources.
-
Impact analysis on the NIG implementation by and to other associated national
infrastructure plans.
The study process should also be conducted with the government’s involvement
through interaction with a government contact group that represents the
various bodies involved in information technology and telecommunications
namely:
-
Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department.
-
Jabatan Telekom Malaysia (JTM)
-
Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).
-
Malaysian Institute for Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS)
-
Malaysian National Computer Confederation (MNCC)
-
National Council for Scientific Research and Development (MPKSN)
-
National Information Technology Council (NITC)
-
Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM)
