The Selangor Information
Grid (SIG)
![]() In June 1998, Selangor became the first Malaysian State to apply the NIG concept into its comprehensive 11-volume State IT Blueprint. The principle goal of the IT Blueprint is to ensure smooth implementation of electronic government by 2005, which is part of Selangor’s vision of a developed state. Central to this blueprint is the Selangor Information Grid (SIG), which is expected to expand over time to cover the non-government sectors as well. The NIG concept was adapted because of the time frame involved. Since Selangor is committed to achieve developed status by 2005, the evolution of its information grid must be a planned and accelerated one. SIG allows the State to properly plot out and coordinate its efforts in an achievable and realistic manner, thereby saving time and cost, while eliminating duplication of effort. We at RenCorp are honoured that the NIG framework has now been adapted for a state strategy that aims to bring real-life benefits to real people in the forthcoming knowledge society. |
