4. The Need for NIG
In the government’s plans for Malaysia to become a fully-developed nation,
having an information-rich society is one of the major objectives.
The proposed NIG is an essential component of the infrastructure needed
to support that objective. This chapter explains several major
reasons for the NIG to be implemented as a single concerted effort.
